- Web Design
The first step in building a web site is careful design. You are defining your purpose for the site, which in turn defines most of the content. After you know what content needs to be provided, care is taken to design the paths that site visitors should take to access the information in a logical and effective manner. Please don't take this stage of the project lightly.
I'm available to consult at this critical stage of the process, and I can refer you to many excellent resources to help you. I also can refer you to design specialists if my level of expertise isn't sufficient to get you through this critical step. - Web Site Development
If you've done a good job of designing a site, implementing the design is easy. You know what content is needed, and you know how a visitor should travel from page to page. You know basically which pages are needed and what goes on each page.
Modern Web programming systems allow rapid page development and once a site is in place, it's easy to make changes to the appearance of the site and the individual pages. You can build pages using well-designed templates, which keep the site consistent, and when major appearance changes are required, all of the individual pages can instantly update to a new theme. - Web Site Hosting
The easiest way to put a web site on the Internet is to have the site hosted at an Internet Hosting company. They have acres of servers in "server farms" located around the country and around the world. They can provide the highest level of "up-time" and have highly trained security specialists to protect your site from attack and keep your site available. I have leased dedicated space on servers from several Internet Hosting companies, and I can sub-let space on my servers at very affordable rates to clients who want a minimum of red tape in getting their site online.
If you are interested in building your own web site, I can sub-let space to you and provide any level of support you want, from completely hands-off to full service design, development and maintenance. In any case, I'm always available to help troubleshoot. - Web Site Maintenance
There's a lot of work involved in designing and developing a great Web site but even a very carefully designed site still needs ongoing, regular maintenance.
Whether I build your site or take over from a developer, I'm prepared to work with you to keep your site up to date and incorporate new pages, new services and new features as your site evolves. I'll make sure your information is correct and displayed the way you want it displayed. I'm careful to design pages which allow rapid, inexpensive updates.
For clients who want more hands-on control, I can set you up with a content management system that allows you or your employees to directly edit specific pages as needed, or just specific tables of information, so you don't even need to contact me for routine management. Of course I'd always be ready to help if needed.
